MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- As two-thirds of the hurricane season in the Atlantic basin pass today, only five named systems have developed. Chances are extremely low that a sixth storm will form anytime in the near future. Vast amounts of moisture off the southeastern coast of the United States are part of a stalled frontal system and are unlikely to gather enough organization to become a tropical disturbance for now. Other batches of moisture in the open Atlantic and in the Intertropical Convergence Zone in the southern latitudes of the north Atlantic also have limited potential to form further.
