MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The Intertropical Convergence Zone in the southern latitudes of the north Atlantic between western Africa and the Lesser Antilles features two modest waves of disturbed weather, both with medium chances to further develop into tropical cyclones. However, wind shear is considerably high in the areas around these storms, so development is likely to be slow to gradual.
We are also monitoring separate areas of moisture in the southern extent of the Gulf of Mexico. There are no major indications of impending tropical development, but water surface temperatures are sufficiently warm to support some development of a broad low-pressure area in the southeastern Gulf. High pressure along the Gulf region will likely keep this possible developing disturbance in the open Gulf on a slight westerly track.
