MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Just a few days ago, the Pacific Ocean saw the birth of another tropical storm. But within a time-span of less than two days, the storm has rapidly intensified into the most powerful hurricane in the western hemisphere. As of the latest advisory (11pm Friday), the hurricane has winds sustained at 130 mph. It made landfall with 165 mph winds (Category 5 strength). Earlier Friday morning, winds were measured at 200 mph! Pressure levels were around 879 mb earlier Friday, breaking the record of Wilma from back in 2005.
The Atlantic Ocean stays quiet and tropical development is not expected within the next 5 days.
