TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) -- Tropical storm Earl is currently located in the Caribbean Sea South of Jamaica and is moving west at 20 mph. Earl has sustained winds of 45 mph. Some intensification is likely as the system gets more organized and it may reach near hurricane strength by the time it reaches the Yucatan Peninsula. Earl is expected to pass over Belize and the Yucatan over the next few days before it weakens.
It will not have any local impacts. This is the 5th tropical storm of the 2016 hurricane season.
