TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) -- Invest 99L has been upgraded to Tropical Depression 9. It currently has sustained winds of 35 mph and is moving slowly west at 9 mph. Since it is moving into a more favorable environment slow strengthening is excepted in the short term forecast. The depression is forecast to become a tropical storm by Monday afternoon, with potentially more strengthening possible.
The depression will continue moving towards the west before curving northward as an area of high pressure weakens over the next 2-3 days. Most computer models are in agreement about the track the cyclone will take in the short term forecast.
