(WTXL/NWS) -- Chedza, Bansi, and Mekkhala are the names of three tropical cyclones around the planet. Chedza and Bansi are located in the Indian Ocean, while Mekkhala is in the Pacific.
Chedza is currently at tropical storm strength with winds sustained at 60 mph as it makes landfall on the western coast of Madagascar. The storm is forecast to survive the landfall and re-emerge over the Indian Ocean on the eastern side of the island nation by late Friday and re-strengthen to tropical storm strength.
Bansi has been around for several days and has winds sustained at 150 mph. This makes Bansi's strength equivalent to a high end Category Four Hurricane! It is not forecast to threaten any landmasses as it continues to track to the southeast in the Indian Ocean and eventually weaken.
In the northern hemisphere, Mekkhala is about to impact the Phillipines with current sustained winds at 55 mph. It is not forecast to reach typhoon (hurricane) strength as it crosses over the Phillipines.
