MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The Thursday morning Tropics check starts with the tropical disturbance moving away from Puerto Rico. It is deemed "Invest 99L" by the National Hurricane Center. Invest 99L is expected to continue to push to the Bahamas, but there are still glaring uncertainties in the forecast. First, there is no center of circulation, so model runs aren't 100% reliable and they all have to be taken with a grain of salt. Second, high pressure to its north may weaken somewhat, which can push the disturbance to the north or south.

Meanwhile, Gaston is now a Hurricane. As of the 5am advisory, winds are sustained at 75 mph, making the storm a Category 1 hurricane. It may weaken somewhat but it is expected to return to hurricane strength as it moves east, away from Bermuda.

More updates to come this afternoon...
