Well it's August first today and August is usually the time when we see the tropics start to heat up a bit.
Right now the entire Atlantic Basin is very quiet due to a huge swath of Saharan dust moving west throughout the Atlantic. All this dust isn't the most conducive environment for tropical development therefore we aren't expecting development for the nest 48 hours.
There are a few tropical waves in the Caribbean and western Atlantic but they aren't expected to intensify to tropical depression or tropical storm strength.
