MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- It's that time of year. Hurricane Season 2017 has officially begun.
Good news, as there is no tropical activity in the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic Ocean. There is no organized activity expected in the next five days.
Tropical moisture is forecast to increase in the Gulf of Mexico through the weekend, though no organized system is anticipated. This moisture will likely increase our local rain chances.
Below is a look at FOUR separate forecasts for the Hurricane Season. They all fall similarly in line with an "average" or slightly "above average" season.
The next named system will be "Bret". The rest of the 2017 Atlantic list is below. NOTE: That this is the same list used in 2005 and 2011. That is the same list that retired storms such as Dennis, Katrina, and Irene.
You can catch the forecast on WTXL Sunrise starting at 5:00, as well as WTXL Midday at Noon. Chief Meteorologist Casanova Nurse has your forecast at 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, and 11:00 this evening.
