MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The disturbance in the western Caribbean has not developed much over the last 24 hours, but the moisture source has been able to hold itself together near the Honduran coast.  There is still no distinct low-pressure circulation, but conditions in the western Caribbean may favor slight development through the weekend.  The system is forecast to drift north, then accelerate to the northeast into the far southeastern Gulf and the Florida peninsula.  Some organization is possible during this phase, but the main impact for the Florida peninsula would be times of heavy rain.

This weekend's cold front will play a major role in deflecting the system to the northeast, and generally away from the Big Bend area.  Beyond that time, the disturbance may continue to generate rain and strong winds for the mid-Atlantic and New England coastal areas.

Tropical development is not forecast for other parts of the Atlantic basin through the next several days.
