MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- A source of moisture lingering near the Yucatan Peninsula has the higher chance of creating heavy rain early next week in some of the western Gulf states, but chances of the system gaining enough organization to become a tropical depression or storm over the next five days remain low. Once the disturbances moves over the warmer southwestern Gulf waters, a short window of opportunity for strengthening starts. Regardless of future development trends, the system is projected to stay in the western Gulf region and not have a direct influence on local weather conditions.
No other areas of concern exist today across the rest of the Atlantic basin.
