MIDWAY, FL (WTXL) -- We currently have two areas we are monitoring, one located in the Eastern Atlantic and one in the Caribbean Sea.
In their 2:00 PM outlook, The National Hurricane Center issued a 20% chance of tropical development for the system in the Caribbean over the next five days. The environment is favorable and the system is expected to move west-northwestward at 15-20 mph. Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao will see rainfall and gusty winds tonight and tomorrow from this system.
The disturbance in the Atlantic was given a 70% chance of development over the next five days. The system is located 300 miles southeast of the Cape Verde Islands and is expected to track west-northwest at 10-15 mph. The conditions are ideal for tropical development.
We will be closely tracking both these systems over the next several days. As always, check back with your WTXL Storm Team to get the latest updates!
