MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Hurricane Ophelia continues to swirl in the eastern Atlantic a few hundred miles southwest of the Azores island group. It will continue to move generally in an east , then northeast, fashion as it begins a transition into a post-tropical cyclone nearing Ireland and the British Isles by this weekend.
We are still monitoring a broad upper low near the Bahamas; it will carry moisture toward the Florida peninsula but the environment does not support the disturbance turning into a tropical low through the weekend.
There are no other points of interest elsewhere in the Atlantic basin.
