MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Fred is rather persistent, hanging on to tropical storm status despite the destructive forces of wind shear and drier air influencing it in the eastern Atlantic. The system will curve to the north, and then possibly northeast, staying safely far away from the United States during its remaining lift span.
Southeast of Fred, off the west Africa coast, a vigorous disturbance will enter the Atlantic over the next 24 hours. The outlook highlights a modest chance for the disturbance to slowly develop and gain tropical characteristics over the next three to five days.
