TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - The 96th Annual American Meteorological Society (AMS) conference took place in New Orleans this year on January 9th-14th. The AMS conference is the world’s largest gathering for the weather, climate, and water community. It brings together great minds from a diverse set of scientific studies. It is a great networking opportunity for new attendees to expand their knowledge and make new career contacts and friends. This conference had the most attendees ever nearing the 4,000 mark.
January 9th and 10th is dedicated just to college students. Different sessions are held to help students decide career paths and graduate school options. Students get the chance to talk to professionals about their career path, exchange business cards or resumes, and learn about internship or job opportunities. The professional conference was January 11th-14th; this consisted of various different sessions that range from information about space weather to emergency management and how to better communicate.
