Saharan dust from Africa has kept the tropics very calm over the past few days.
The Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico are both being influenced by a ridge of high pressure so activity is very quiet.
There is an upper level low in the western Caribbean that has brought on some clouds and a few showers but the Saharan dust is keep things pretty stable in this region as well.
This layer of dust will be sticking around for the next few days which will limit any chance for something tropical to form for at least the next 2 days.
