MIDWAY, Fl (WTXL) -- Conditions in the tropics may be relatively quiet for now, but there are still a few systems to watch as we head into the later half of the work week.

Tropical Depression Julia virtually stationary off the coast of South Carolina with sustained winds of 30 mph. Julia will continue to weaken as it slowly nears the coast of North Carolina. Breezier winds and some rain may be possible there.

Tropical Storm Karl is still churning in the Atlantic Ocean, moving west at 13 mph. Winds are sustained at 40 mph. As Karl continues moving west, it is expected to strengthen into a category 1 hurricane by late next week. As of now, Karl's forecast track moves northwest of Puerto Rico and west of the Bahamas in the later half of next week.

Still off the coast of Africa is a disturbance we've been watching for the last few days. This disturbance is located a few hundred miles southeast of the Cape Verde Islands. There is an 80% chance of this area to become a tropical depression in the next 5 days as it continues pushing west-northwest.
