MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Right now there are two disturbances in the tropics.
First, let's talk about a tropical disturbance now named Invest 97L. It's about 1500 miles east-southeast of the Windward Islands with a west-northwest movement of 15-20 mph. While this disturbance is showing signs of organizing, it will move into more favorable conditions later in the work week. In the next five days, there is a 90% chance this will become a tropical depression.
Tropical Storm Karl has been demoted to Post-Tropical Cyclone Karl. Winds are sustained at 70 mph with a northeast movement of 49 mph. This is not a threat to the U.S. as it will stay in the open waters of the northern Atlantic Ocean. It is forecast to dissipate by Monday night.
