TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) -- Strong westerly shear continues to take a toll on Fiona. New convection cells have developed around the small circulation but there is not much organization to the thunderstorms. As Fiona continues to move into hostile environmental conditions more weakening will occur and is forecast to become a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. Fiona currently has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and will keep moving towards the west-northwest at at 16 mph. 

A tropical wave east of the lesser Antilles has a 40% chance of cyclonic formation over the next 5 days. This is system is located near an area of dry air which will inhibit development over the next few days as it continues to move west at 15-20 mph. 

An area of storms near the Cabo Verde Islands has a 90% chance of cyclonic formation over the next few days. Environmental conditions are conducive for development and a tropical depression could form in the next 24-48 hours.
