MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Tropical Storm Bertha has survived its landfall from the Dominican Republic and is now moving to the northwest away from the Southeastern Bahamas. Its forecast track still has it moving at a decent speed to the northwest before shifting to the northeast around Wednesday and missing the Eastern Seaboard. The track has shifted slightly more west though, due to possible interaction with a disturbance east of Florida. This raises a bit of concern for the coastline as rip currents will be more prominent if the storm were to move closer to the coast. The track will be monitored as Bertha travels further northwest with some strengthening forecast to occur. Other than that, the rest of the Atlantic basin is quiet. Some batches of moisture are exiting Africa but as of now, they are not expected to develop within the next 48-72 hours.
