MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- While a vigorous low pressure system continues to provide weather woes across the Greater Plains and the Deep South, our local area will be under the influence of high pressure. While not lasting for very long, the high will keep us very warm, with limited rain coverage. Friday looks to be active with widespread showers and storms.
Wednesday: Morning fog is very possible with temperatures starting off in the upper 50s to lower 60s. As the fog burns off, a warm south to southwest wind will help keep the area above average with inland temperatures in the mid to upper 80s. Coastal areas will be cooler due to the ocean breeze, with temps closer to 80°. At this time, rain isn't expected to develop, due to the limiting effects of upper level high pressure sitting overhead.
Beach and Boating information is below:
Tide Times for Wednesday are below:
Thursday: The upper level high will weaken on Thursday, allowing for more clouds and late evening/night shower coverage. The morning is expected to start off mild, with temperatures in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Daytime highs will be similar to Wednesday's, with upper 80s inland and lower 80s along the Big Bend coast.
Friday: The vigorous low pressure system mentioned earlier, along with a cold front, will drive into the area sometime on Friday morning/early afternoon. Widespread rain is expected, with coverage at 70%. Morning lows will be in the lower to mid 60s, with highs struggling to reach 80°.
Thunderstorms are very possible, with a few imbedded strong to severe storms. The severe threat is low with this system, but at this point in time, still possible. Stay with the Storm Team for the latest updates on the system.
Saturday and Sunday: Skies are expected to clear after the front, with both days starting off mild. Lows will likely fall to the mid 50s, with highs jumping to the mid 80s.
Monday and Tuesday: Signs are already pointing to Monday evening and Tuesday morning as a messy period with thunderstorms expected. Another low pressure system will carry moisture into the local area by then. Morning lows are forecast to be in the 60s, with highs in the lower 80s. It is still WAY too early to tell if this system will bring an organized severe threat.
