MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The threat of tropical depression nine continues to move closer to us and by tonight, conditions are expected to deteriorate with the worst conditions still expected to approach the Big Bend Thursday evening.

Another breezy afternoon is anticipated with winds up to 15 mph throughout the day. Afternoon temperatures are forecast to slowly rise to the lower 90s with an increase in cloud cover expected. Rain coverage is forecast to be around 40-50% as the moisture pull from the Atlantic increases as the tropical depression nears us.

Thursday should start off breezy, getting noticeably windier in the afternoon. Depending on where the storm system moves, the strongest winds will be just east of its center, though gusty conditions are possible west of the center, as well. Because of the significant probability to see strong gusts, Tropical Storm watches are in effect for Big Bend counties, and there is also a slight possibility that the depression could reach hurricane status before landfall. This low, but still possible scenario has prompted a Hurricane watch for the Big Bend coast (NOT WARNING). Rain coverage is likely with 70% coverage west and 90% coverage closer to the I-75 corridor.

Friday, things should quiet down with scattered showers possible. Drier air should move in beyond the storm, helping the sun to dominate the area.
