This morning started off warmer than normal. Some scattered showers were already in north Florida and south Georgia right before sunrise. Since then, the showers cleared off, but the region was left with more cloud cover before sunrise. The abundant clouds overnight prevented morning temperatures from dropping below the low-mid 70s range. The warmup begins at sunrise, and Tallahassee and other local regions will have afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. An area of low pressure out in the Gulf of Mexico will progress northeastward and bring showers and storms into North Florida today and tomorrow. Eastern counties in our viewing area have a higher chance of seeing those storms, which could contain heavy rainfall. For today and tomorrow, rain chances will be at 60%. After the storm system moves into Georgia, the local region will have rain chances in the 20-30% range. The lower rain chance is due to a summer-like pattern, where the sea breeze brings Gulf moisture onshore in the form of rain. Afternoon highs will slightly increase into the next seven days, and by the next workweek it will be in the lower to mid 90s.
