TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Milder air in place through the weekend. That's when temps will warm back up. This afternoon, temps will get to the seasonal average in the low to mid 60s under partly sunny skies. High pressure is in the mid-South which is keeping us dry, but not close enough to clear the skies completely. Overnight, it'll be a little on the cooler side with temps dipping into the low to mid 40s. So if you're heading out to any NYE celebrations, bundle up. Temps for the first of the year will be very similar to how the year ended, highs in the mid 60s. As early as Friday we could be talking about a few scattered showers especially for our western counties. Scattered rain chances are possible heading into the weekend with widespread showers and storms likely on Sunday. As the warm front lifts from the Gulf, conditions become muggier with highs climbing to near 70° on Friday and to the mid 70s by Saturday. Sunday we'll still be warm in the low 70s before the front passes and temps cool off a bit, still staying mild for early January standards in the mid 60s for highs. Rain chances taper to around 20% early next week.
