Storm Team Wednesday evening forecast (08/20/2014)

MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

The shower and storm activity has waned compared to previous days, and this is a trend that will continue for the remainder of the week.  High pressure over the Gulf of Mexico will slide to the north, supported by an upper-level bubble of high pressure, to help suppress the shower and thunderstorm cycle that we typically experience in summer afternoons.  Although isolated storms are still possible Thursday and Friday … and can still become locally strong … the west and northwest wind flow along with the sinking air motion with the high pressure systems will crank up the heat significantly.  Highs away from the coast will make a run for 100°, and some parts of south Georgia may easily exceed that mark.  Lows tonight will drop into the middle 70s with a few clouds.  Heat index (feels-like) temperatures will be around 104° to 109° for the next few afternoons without a big drop in the moisture and humidity counts.  A tropical wave nearing the Lesser Antilles will track generally to the west with some potential for additional organization and development through the weekend.
