MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
A major cold snap is on its way, and it will arrive tonight on gusty northwest winds transporting deep Arctic air straight into the region. As the sky remains clear, temperatures will steadily fall into the 40s in the early evening, through the 30s in the early morning, then bottoming out around the middle 20s by sunrise Thursday. Breezes will continue around 4 to 10 mph, producing wind chill values well into the teens. Wind Chill Advisories and Hard Freeze Warnings are in effect Thursday morning for the abnormally cold conditions. Despite full sunshine during the day, readings still struggle to reach the low and mid 40s across the area. Winds will decrease late in the day, but that's won't prevent another plunge Friday morning into the lower 20s except at the immediate coast. A rapid warm-up will commence by the weekend as winds become more southerly.
