A few passing clouds from a nearby upper-level jet stream are possible through tonight, but rain expectations don't exist. Hot daytime temperatures will cool down toward 70° for overnight lows. A mix of sun and clouds will greet us again during the day. A slight shift in the upper flow, plus a stalling front over the east-central Gulf, may be the source for periods of thicker cloudiness, along with a stray late-day shower or storm for some in the southeastern Big Bend region. Overall coverage shouldn't exceed 20% of the area. Future rain chances will depend on the positioning of the moisture corridor in the north and east Gulf, countered by the effects of a broad high-pressure ridge over the central United States. The ridge will keep our highs above average, but possibly out of record territory thanks for any clouds or isolated thunderstorms that may form over the weekend.
