MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
For the early evening, periods of heavy rain will continue near the Flint River area in southwest Georgia. The zone of rain action stretches southwest into the northern Gulf. The entire boundary is slowly moving to the east. While active storms will diminish somewhat in strength late tonight, lessening the severe weather risk, showers and rain will remain, and may accumulate to about one to two inches in general through Thursday. A few spots may receive higher totals. A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for many local counties until tomorrow morning. With the slow passage of the cold front, the highest temps may be reached in the morning hours (upper 50s to low 60s) before readings slip back into the mid to upper 50s for most of the afternoon. A slow clearing trend will happen late in the afternoon starting in western counties. Friday will be sunny and cool. We may be set up for a series of systems that will draw additional cold-air sources straight into the Southeast through much of next week.
