TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Breezy north winds have remained in place through out the day, which helped keep our daytime highs down. Moving into tonight, winds will relax and skies are expected to remain clear. This will allow for overnight lows to really drop. In fact there is a FREEZE WARNING in effect for most of the area, and a HARD FREEZE WARNING for counties east of and including Echols, Clinch, Suwannee, Hamilton, and Columbia counties.
A hard freeze warning means overnight lows will fall to the lower and mid 20s for at least two hours. It is recommended that exposed pipes in this area ONLY be covered or dripped. A freeze warning means temperatures in the mid 20s to lower 30s are expected for at least three hours. Pipes will not need to be protected, but everyone should cover sensitive plants and bring in the pets.
Tonight, lows will be cold, as previously mentioned with temperatures in the mid to upper 20s. Skies will remain clear and winds will stay light though the night.
Thursday will be another very sunny day, but temperatures will still be unseasonably cold, only warming to the mid and upper 50s for most. Winds will be light, still from the north, at about 5 mph. Thursday night will be cold as well, however, a freeze is not expected. Overnight lows for Thursday night into Friday morning will drop to the mid 30s under clear skies.
Rounding out your work week, temperatures will feel much more seasonal with highs in near 70 degrees and sunny for Friday.
