TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Though some western counties saw a little bit of rainfall yesterday, the overall trend will lean more dry today and for the rest of the work week. As Bertha moves away from us and farther to the north offshore, expect a surface high pressure system to build over the Gulf of Mexico and dominate our region. This will allow for general dry and hot weather heading into the next several days. It's still a little humid this morning with temps only falling into the low and mid 70s. By the afternoon we'll quickly heat into the mid to even upper 90s around the area, with little cooling along the shoreline, as winds will not be pumped in from the Gulf, but rather from the west, ushering in hot, dry air. A few showers can't be ruled out, especially the farther west you go, but most will remain dry on your Tuesday. Wednesday, expect much of the same with temps slightly warmer into the upper 90s, so stay hydrated as the heat really doesn't look like it's going anywhere. Thursday, a few more showers could fire up as winds begin to blow off the Gulf, but still only some scattered storms. Into the weekend, storm chances begin to increase to about a 40-50% coverage and temps plateau back into the low to mid 90s.
