MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- A weak frontal boundary may help fire up some showers today, but they will be sparse. Expect another warmer than average pattern throughout the week with highs in the upper 80s.
Tuesday will feature partly cloudy skies. Sunshine, along with decent low level moisture, and the nearby front can spark widely isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm, but they will occur in hit-or-miss fashion. This means that not everyone will get rain today. Daytime highs will range in the mid to upper 80s across the Big Bend and South Georgia. This includes the Gulf coast. Lows into Wednesday morning, are forecast to be warmer than average as well, with numbers in the upper 60s to lower 70s.
Wednesday through Thursday, much of the same is expected, with even less rain as a stronger NE wind limits moisture availability. Highs in the upper 80s and lows in the mid to upper 60s.
Friday, Hurricane Matthew is expected to make its closest approach to the region, with the potential for the northeast coast of Florida to see significant weather. For our region, eastern zones may see scattered showers from outer bands if the storm is close enough. Elsewhere, isolated showers and storms are possible (coverage 30%). Winds are expected to be breezy, with stronger winds east. Storm gusts should remain closer to the east coast.
Hurricane Matthew has a notable westward shift in its forecast track. If this trend continues, potential impacts may change further. Continue to stay updated with the Storm Team. Check WTXL.TV/WEATHER for the latest information.
