MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Showers have returned to the local area this Tuesday morning, and the chance for them will continue throughout the afternoon. The much needed rain is being caused by an increase in surface moisture being pulled in from the Gulf of Mexico, ahead of a cold front. The south winds from the Gulf will keep the area mostly cloudy today, but still expect highs to reach the upper 70s to 80 degrees. Rain coverage will stay isolated, at around 30%.
Lows into Wednesday, will struggle to fall due to warm and moist air, coupled with cloud cover acting as a blanket. Expect temperatures tomorrow morning to be in the lower 60s with highs approaching 80 degrees. As the cold front pushes away, a reinforcing front behind it will help increase the rain coverage for Wednesday, with coverage at 40%, and a few strong thunderstorms possible.
Wednesday night into Thursday morning will feature the heaviest rain chance, but into Thursday afternoon, skies should clear nicely as a cooler and drier air mass rolls in. For Thursday, highs will stay near 70 degrees, with lows for Friday and Saturday morning, near 40 degrees.
The end of the weekend highlights another front which may bring another round of stormy weather for the new week.
