MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

A rare Moderate Risk for severe weather exists in the westernmost parts of the viewing region late tonight through early Wednesday morning.  A strengthening low-pressure system moving into a moist, warm are mass locally is capable of triggering numerous instances of damaging storm gusts and tornadoes this evening across the Central Gulf Coast, with some of the activity riding eastward into the western Big Bend, Apalachicola/Chattahoochee river basins, and southwest Georgia overnight.  The storm system will generate considerably strong storms that will move to the east through the pre-dawn hours.  A few storms may become tornadic, especially around the tri-state.  A dangerous situation is in place for areas near and west of the capital region, and surrounding the Flint River region in south Georgia.  After the storm system moves through, windy and colder conditions will be established with a gradual clearing trend.  Severe weather watches and warnings are likely late tonight through early Wednesday morning.  Stay tuned to Storm Team Weather and Weather NOW on channel 27.3 for thorough coverage tonight and overnight.
