MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
Record-cold temperatures are expected overnight with the Arctic high pressure system draped over the region. Winds will relax, and the sky will remain clear, and what little warmth was received today will quickly radiate through the atmosphere, allowing nighttime temps to plummet to below freezing by midnight. Early-morning lows will bottom out around 20° in rural, outlying, open areas, mid 20s in urban centers, and closer to 30° at the coast. Hard Freeze Warnings will be in effect late tonight through mid-morning Wednesday. Protective measures for pets, plants, people, and exposed piping should be taken tonight. Sunshine will return Wednesday to warm temperatures into the 50s for highs, but another round of possible hard-freeze conditions is possible Thursday morning. Readings will return to average over the weekend, with a thunderstorm threat for early next week.
