TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - The weather remains quiet as we end the work week, but showers and storms are expected heading into the holiday weekend. Clouds build in throughout the course of your Thursday and temps will struggle to warm up and we'll fall short of our average making it into the low 60s. Last cool night til around Christmas with temps falling into the low 40s. By Friday afternoon, highs will rebound back into the mid 60s. You may see an isolated shower or two late Friday evening with the bulk of the rainfall making its way into the region Saturday. Computer models have varied greatly in where exactly and when this system will impact the region. As of now, scattered showers look likely throughout Saturday. South Georgia could see more showers and storms than our North Florida counties. By Sunday a few more scattered showers and storms are likely with the main bulk of the energy moving northward from the Gulf of Mexico after sundown Sunday evening. Sunday also begins the first official day of winter! By Monday, wet conditions persist with many showers likely. The main cold front that will push all the wet weather away pushes through the Deep South late Tuesday and during Christmas Eve morning. If you have travel plans, this system looks to pack quite a punch to the north of us, stretching from the Midwest to New England and southward into the mid-Atlantic states. Be sure to check your flight statuses for the most up to date information as your travel plans approach. Temps over the course of this wet system will be mild in the upper 60s with lows in the 50s. By Christmas Eve, temps will be cooler on the backside of the cold front struggling to get to 60° during the afternoon and Christmas Day looks chilly as well with morning lows in the upper 30s and highs right around 60°.
