MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- Merry Christmas everyone! It surely is a nice change of pace now that the system responsible for the nasty & gloomy weather over the past few days finally moves out of our region. High pressure is now setting in over our area, pulling winds from the north. This will help reinforce the dry and cool feel all across the region with highs today only expected to be in the mid 60s and lows dipping into the mid 30s. The clearing out of the skies at night will really help cool us off, compared to the warm, muggy, and cloudy nights previously. The pattern rapidly changes though, however, as high pressure gets a move on very quickly to the east. That will cause a warming trend to occur by the weekend with highs back near 70 degrees and a low but consistent rain chance from Saturday through next Wednesday as another disturbance (although much weaker than the previous storm system) makes its way slowly across the southeastern U.S. While it moves over the region, it will help pull winds from the ocean, keeping us humid and several degrees above average. Good news with this is that due to it being much weaker, we're not expecting any flood event to occur.
