MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- Hot and humid weather continues for Thursday as high pressure east of us continues to pull in warm winds from the east and southeast. The influence of the hot air mass overhead will help to keep afternoon highs near the mid 90s with low level moisture making it feel like 100 degrees or higher (potentially up to 105 degrees). Similar conditions will exist along the coast with highs in the lower 90s but heat index values also near 100 degrees. Rain coverage is near seasonal levels today (40%). Storminess that does occur will be along the typical Summer variety with heavy downpours possible and frequent lightning.
Moving into Friday and the weekend, the main change will be some drier air, helping to drop rain coverage to 20-30%. The reduction in rain coverage, coupled with afternoon heat, means that highs will likely be hotter through Sunday. The humidity is still forecast to be high, helping heat index values to still be near or above 100 degrees.
