TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Winds will be shifting direction through today to a more southerly direction. This means that humidity will return to the picture, and yes, with more humidity that means the return of sea breeze thunderstorm activity for the weekend. Today will be a bit warmer with highs in the mid 90s and heat index values in the upper 90s. Tonight we'll see one more cool night with lows in the upper 60s - lower 70s across the Big Bend. The winds will remain persistent from the southeast after today, so the rain chances will rise back up to near or above seasonal coverage of around 40-50% through Monday. Unless we see significant rainfall through the weekend - which is unlikely, this summer looks to finish as the driest on record. Highs through next week will be in the lower to mid 90s as we finish the month. Good news for you Fall lovers, average highs will be on the decrease as we head through September. September is also notable as the peak of Hurricane Season, and more activity is already being monitored across the Atlantic. We'll have more on this activity and Cristobal on Tropics Update.
