TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- The stationary front that has been sitting over central Florida for much of this week has become a surface trough as it has been moving northward toward the area. This has also been dumping a bit of rain over much of the Big Bend and south Georgia. As we near the weekend, this trough will remain overhead, giving us another day of wet and cloudy weather. Though some storms may be stronger than others and produce heavier rainfall, at this time, we are not expecting any severe weather.
Tonight, temperatures will remain steady around the mid 70s under cloudy skies. There is about a 40 percent chance of having a few showers lingering into the overnight hours, but nothing too significant.
Friday will be almost a repeat of Thursday with overcast conditions and rainy weather throughout much of the day. Rain chances are lowest in the morning, about 50 percent, but will increase to a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms by the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will struggle to heat to the mid 80s, with quite a bit of us only reaching the lower 80s. By Friday night, there should be a break in the rain as the previously mentioned surface trough begins to weaken just a bit.
