MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...
The eastern Gulf system is keeping most of the peninsula unsettled, cloudy, and damp, but only a small sliver of the local area is experiencing its excessive cloudiness and rain activity. Enough sunshine and warming late this afternoon is triggering spotty showers and a chance for isolated thunder around the central Big Bend and the Forgotten Coast regions through the mid-evening hours. Overnight, areas of clear sky are possible near the Apalachicola River, while scattered cloud cover will remain in the southeast Big Bend and east of I-75. Lows will fall into the upper 60s inland to low 70s elsewhere. The Gulf low is forecast to move northeast, providing a northeast wind for the region which would promote a drier trend into the weekend. Highs will rebound to the 90° outside of areas of cloudiness, and the highest rain coverage will again be in the eastern counties. The weekend will feature more sunshine, above-average afternoon temps, and near-average morning lows.
