Storm Team Thursday evening forecast (08/21/2014)

MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- From the Storm Team Weather Center ...

Intense heat to setting up across the Southeast and the GulfCoast, and we are feeling every degree of it.  The high pressure system’s center will be just to the west, but a constant land breeze will be in place locally, which will keep the onshore flow pinned at the coast.  Shower and thunderstorm activity will be quite limited, but what does form may actually slide into the region from the north, and could be potentially strong or severe.  However, such storminess will be scarce as the heat remains widespread.  Lows will fall only to the mid to upper 70s, and highs tomorrow will range from the lower 90s right at the beach to around 100° inland.  Feels-like readings will approach 110° during the peak heating hours of the afternoon, so a Heat Advisory will stay in effect.  There won’t be much cooling before Sunday, when a few more areas of showers and storms are possible from the northeast.  A tropical disturbance near the Lesser Antilles has been investigated for intensification; while its future form remains uncertain, the forecast track has tended to favor more of a northwesterly movement.
