TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Welcome to the first day of Winter! We experienced the shortest amount of daylight today, though we didn't see much of the sun courtesy of those thick clouds and persistent light rainfall. Rain will pick up heading overnight as a warm front lifts from the Gulf of Mexico bringing in the showers and increased mugginess. Overnight lows will stay plateaued in the mid 50s. Highs tomorrow will get warmer than we saw this weekend into the upper 60s, but it'll still be dreary with mostly cloudy skies all day and periods of rainfall. As the core of the moisture moves closer to us in the way of the main low pressure system, severe storms are a possibility for Tuesday. Currently, the Storm Prediction Center has a slight risk for severe weather issued for the Big Bend. High winds and hail are the main threats. On Christmas Eve, the main cold front will push through bringing many periods of heavy rainfall. Flooding will be the primary concern on Christmas Eve. Temps through this entire time will be in the mid to upper 60s. Right when Santa is making his rounds, the skies will clear and the rain will stop. By the time all is said and done, we'll see 3-5" of rainfall. On Christmas, temps will be cool. When the kids are shaking the presents in the morning, temps will be in the low to mid 40s. By the afternoon, temps will climb to near 60°. High pressure quickly builds in and temps quickly plummet by Friday morning. Lows will be near freezing. Highs heading into next weekend will moderate with plenty of sunshine back into the low and mid 60s.
