MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- All signs are pointing to a very wet work week with forecast models suggesting a total of six or more inches of rain in isolated areas. Low pressure in the region will pull in very moist air, increasing rain chances significantly through midweek.
Areas expecting to see the highest totals include Taylor, Lafayette, and Dixie counties. These three counties are under a flood watch until Tuesday morning. For Monday, forecast highs will range in the low to upper 80s. The aforementioned counties will expect the coolest high temperatures as cloud cover is expected to dominate throughout the day. Upper 80s to possibly above 90 degrees are possible north and west, where more sunlight is possible. If you live in South-Central Georgia, rain and clouds will be scattered throughout the day. Along the Big Bend coast and inland North Florida, cloud cover is expected to be numerous with rain coverage around 60%. Southwest Georgia is expected to see similar rain coverage.
The low pressure system is expected to push west through the week, helping to increase the rain coverage even further as it pulls more moisture across most of the viewing area. Rain coverage is forecast to be around 70% from Tuesday through Wednesday.
The rain chance stays elevated through next weekend.
Forecaster Melanie Steinberg will bring you updates on the rainy forecast starting bright and early on WTXL Sunrise at 5 a.m.
