TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - A severe weather event is becoming more probable as we head into the start of the work week. The Storm Prediction Center has the entire area under a Slight Risk for severe storms. Coupled with that, areas west of the Apalachicola and Flint Rivers are under a flash flood watch for 2-4" of additional rainfall until Monday night. Isolated spots closer to the Tri-state region could see up to 6" by the time all is said and done.
The main risks as of now are for flooding but also tornadoes, high wind gusts above 60 mph and some small hail can't be ruled out. A squall line will set up and push through the Big Bend and South Georgia entering our western zones by mid-morning and in the early afternoon will make it to Tallahassee. Monday evening, the line is expected to push into the Nature Coast and Suwanee River Valley closer to Valdosta. Our eastern areas aren't expected to get hit as hard as the western Big Bend and Southwest Georgia, but some strong and isolated severe storms can't be ruled out towards the I-10 & 75 junction either.
Temps tomorrow will push near 80° once again but the warmth doesn't last long. By Tuesday, we fall back into the low 70s for highs and overnight lows by Thursday morning drop to the low 40s.
