MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- The heat wave continued for Sunday. Tallahassee once again reached a high of 101 degrees. Apalachicola had a high of 102! Thankfully the heat wave will end today. What comes behind it? A bit of some moisture return and cooler temperatures (relatively speaking). After today, winds will continue to come from the northeast for the next few days, pulling in cooler temperatures and highs around the lower 90s. The air mass moving in from the northeast is also much drier, lowering rain to below 20% for Wed. and Thurs. There will also be lower humidity values so while temps will still be in the 90s, it will feel much better outside. Moisture returns wont increase until next weekend when winds will once again come from a southerly direction. The gulf moisture will help to increase coverage to rise back up to 30-40%. Highs across the week look to be in the lower to mid 90s with the warmest day looking to be Thursday with highs near 96 degrees. Tropical Storm Cristobal has formed earlier today but will likely avoid the U.S. east coast. No direct impacts for the country likely.
