After a warm and muggy Saturday, persistent southerly flow will lead to similar conditions for Sunday. Highs in the high 70s to near 80, and cloud cover will persist throughout the day as a cold front approaches the area. Rain chances should hold off until the late afternoon and early evening hours, and will then be quite light and spotty. Coverage and intensity of rain showers will increase overnight on Sunday, with the bulk of the rain and thunderstorms arriving Monday morning. Some rain could be heavy at times, with a few localized areas possibly receiving 2-3 inches. Clearing on Tuesday will be gradual as a much colder airmass sweeps down behind the front. Lows on Christmas morning will approach the freezing mark, with highs warming to the low 60s and sunny skies across the area. Moisture will return to the area by the end of next week, making for partly cloudy skies and low-end rain chances Friday and Saturday. Highs will rebound to the high 60s, with lows near average in the low 40s.
