TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - Scattered popcorn thunderstorms currently dot the radar this evening and we could see some isolated severe weather around the area with small hail being the main threat. As the sun sets, the fuel for the storms dies down and we transition into more fog cover overnight with some spots seeing less than a quarter mile visibility, especially in the Big Bend and Suwannee River Valley. So if you have early Sunday morning plans, you should give yourself extra time driving. Temps tonight stay mild in the mid 60s overnight as a warm front drapes itself over the area.
Sunday, expect temps similar to today getting into the low 80s with the exception of south Georgia where temps will only get into the mid to upper 70s due to ample rainfall and some flooding potential as well. The Big Bend gets spared of most of the rain as the warm front lifts into South Georgia. A train of moisture should allow most heavy and persistent showers and storms to stay confined north of the front.
By Monday, a Gulf low lifts towards the area and we have the potential for severe weather with hail and high wind gusts being the main threats. We'll continue to give you updates as we approach the start of the work week.
After Monday, temps cool off once again dipping into the 40s for lows and 70s for highs. But the cool down doesn't stick around long. Expect temps to rebound into the 80s by late next week.
