MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) -- It is cold outside! And this trend will continue through the rest of the weekend. A strong low pressure system is developing off the southeastern U.S. coast and the winds wrapping around the low, along with the winds wrapping around high pressure building in the northeast are allowing very cold air to intrude. Lows for Saturday night into Sunday morning will fall into the mid 30s with highs climbing no where near 70 degrees. The winds tonight will die off but not completely, so a freeze isn't expected tonight. The thick coats might be handy even into Sunday night with lows again likely dropping into the 30s. It will be clear throughout the weekend so as soon as the sun sets, temps will plummet. A warm-up will occur after Monday when high pressure moves east and moves winds from the east. Election Day looks average during the day with highs in the mid-70s so voting at the booths during the afternoon should be pleasant. Highs increase to the upper 70s by midweek until another front moves in after Thursday and cools us off again with highs in the lower 70s and lows forecast to be around 50.
