Today started warm and muggy, with some areas of patchy fog. Morning temperatures range in the mid to upper 70s, with the warmest areas being close to the Gulf coast. The warmup will be rapid due to abundant sunshine, under partly cloudy skies, so keep the sunscreen at hand! Afternoon highs will peak in the lower 90s, with coastal areas reaching the upper 80s. An umbrella is recommended before going out this afternoon. There is a 40% chance of seeing some afternoon showers and storms. The rain will not be widespread, but some of the storms could have locally heavy downpours. The rest of the week will have more days of afternoon highs in the 90s with a 40-50% chance of rain. A cluster of storms, associated with an area of low pressure, lies in the Gulf of Mexico. The of storms will continue Northeastward towards Florida. It will bring some more rain on Wednesday into Thursday. The summer-like pattern will continue for the next seven days.
