TALLAHASSEE (WTXL) - A drier forecast in store. A breezy start to the first full week of the New Year with gusts above 20 mph this morning. It's a cool breeze as well coming out of the north. Don't expect the temps to move that much today. We'll begin the morning in the upper 40s and only head into the mid to upper 50s this afternoon. Tonight, as the winds subside, temps cool off quickly and by Tuesday morning, we'll be near the freezing mark especially for our rural areas. More sunshine is expected today and tomorrow and that will aid temps to bump back to the low to mid 60s by Tuesday afternoon. A dry cold front will pass into Wednesday morning with some more chilly breezes and that's where the frigid cold air is coming from. Highs by the afternoon will only be in the upper 50s but by Thursday morning hard freezes can be expected with lows in the mid 20s. Highs Thursday will struggle to get out of the mid 40s and we're back in the deep freeze Friday morning in the mid 20s. Plenty of sunshine heading into Friday afternoon but highs will still only get into the mid 50s. A similar trend for the weekend with highs in the 50s and low 60s with a few rain showers possible by next Sunday.
